Nissan Townpod Concept – A new zero-emission idea
The Nissan Townpod is a concept car first introduced by Nissan at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and now it is displayed at the 2012 Bangkok Motor Show as one of the top five highlights of the show. It is an electric vehicle consists of many unprecedented features that anyone can adapt the interior according to their needs using proprietary and third-party sourced accessories.
Walked one round and look at the car, the chic-look may bizarre for the automobile world today but it clearly brings out a new concept. A concept where one can own a zero-emission passenger car and a light weight commercial car at the same time. We no longer find any petrol caps on this car. There is only one charging point located behind the front logo, which is nicely covered by an automatically retracting cover. The bullet-style headlamps are relatively small but it is sheltered by semi-silvered coating and a built-in signal light, that’s modish!
At the back, it features split trunk doors which function like a van. Thanks to the innovative door hinges, it allows the door to slide and then to fold to the side of the car to save space. Together with low flat-floor and long sliding rear seats, it definitely creates more room. The sliding rear seats are invisible when they are not in use because they can be slide right into the front seats. It creates more space at the back when two become one.
On top, it features an elliptical roof to increase the aerodynamic of the car and also a sun roof to allow taller or longer objects such as surfboard. As for the dashboard, it is simple yet functional. Not much of fancy stuffs other than two digital screens mounted at the center which makes it look futuristic.
The external dimensions of the Nissan Townpod may let us feel the interior is packed, but no, the interior space is huge enough and the car is simply beautiful.
